Feng Yu Jiu Tian vol. 19 ch. 8 – part 1

Translator: churnie

Princess Chang Liu is pregnant and unable to move, although she’s in the Tong’an courtyard, it takes a lot of time to walk around. When Ziyan’s letter was written and signed, only then Princess Chang Liu leads her personal maid Shi Min.

The three allies meet privately and immediately discuss behind the closed doors.

Ziyan is afraid that something may go wrong again, lest he tells the matter in detail, Chang Liu keeps gasping when she heard it, and finally asks with a pale face, “That…that fox is actually a spy sent by Imperial Uncle? So that’s why… However, since His Royal Highness and the envoy already knew about it, why did they just say it today? Isn’t it meant Qing Li… has been drugged again?”

Ziyan feels guilty and doesn’t say anything.

He Di’s face is thicker than the city walls, and he is by no means a person with guilty conscience, he glances at Princess Chang Liu maliciously, “Is the imperial concubine blaming us? There’s a spy in your own house, you can’t see it clearly and have to rely on an outsider to wake you up, it’s clearly the imperial concubine’s own fault. If we had known that we were kind enough to tell you, but we could only be blamed, this prince wouldn’t say anything.”

He has killed countless people and once the ferocious look appears in his eyes, it’s really frightening.

Chang Liu is pregnant and she’s very timid. Being swept by his cold eyes makes her goose bumps all over her body. She clutches her heart uncomfortably for a while, and it takes a while to breathe, but she doesn’t dare to really offend He Di, and says softly: “His Highness has misunderstood, how dare Chang Liu blame His Highness, there’s only gratitude. It was just a moment of surprise.”

This princess has been more unlucky than a crow recently, she has run into every bad things.

Falling out of favor was just a trivial matter, then the in-law family had to suffer another great disaster, the father’s life or death, his whereabouts were unknown, and then another thunder blasted in mid-air, Chang Yi is actually Qing Zhang’s spy and she’s still drugging Qing Li all the time.

Internal and external troubles, the soon-to-be mother Chang Liu is suffering out of shape, there is no trace of blood on her face, and she is full of hesitation and helplessness.

Ziyan is very gentlemanly and so he can’t stand to see the weak and helpless look, seeing Princess Chang Liu looking at him pleadingly, he can’t bear it and comforts her: “Please don’t worry, princess. Now that we have seen through Qing Zhang’s trick, it’s not difficult to break it.”

Although Princess Chang Liu is not stupid, the woman’s actions are definitely not decisive as an experienced general like Ziyan, so she quickly asks: “The Envoy, is there any way to break it?”

Ziyan has thought about it for a long time, and at this time he speak out all the plans in his mind and says eloquently: “The princess might as well do it in two ways. First, send someone to communicate with Duke Ming and tell Duke Ming about it, ask Duke Ming Wang to leave the dangerous place of Qing Zhang Prince’s Palace as soon as possible.”

“That’s not a problem. And the second…Is to notify Qing Li immediately and ask him to deal with that woman Changyi?”

“Absolutely not.” Although he has been under He Di’s house arrest, encountering such dangerous and urgent events, Ziyan’s commanding style has not diminished, he calmly analyzes: “Qing Li has been bewitched by drugs, even if the princess tells him the matter, I am afraid because he’s controlled by the drugs, he won’t believe the truth that the princess saying. In the worst case, Changyi will bite the princess’ back.”

Shi Min participates in this important event, looking extremely nervous, she has heard what is said nearby and says: “The special envoy says really true, His Highness Qing Li has indeed lost consciousness and listen to nothing but that woman’s words.” She had once been ordered by Chang Liu to see Qing Li late at night, and when she saw Qing Li’s shameful situation, she knew better than Chang Liu that he was incurable.

Ziyan says, “Therefore, it can be said that at present, the only person in charge of Tong’an courtyard is the princess.”

“Me?”

“Of course it’s you, or is it that little thing in your stomach?” He Di sneers oddly, “Still don’t know anything? So suck, this prince is the best at tidy up internal affairs, let me teach you. Firstly, find a confidant, learn that woman’s tricks, give Qing Li some drugs, so that Qing Li loses consciousness, after taking care of Qing Li, then tied up that woman, torture her to extort a confession, make her confess everything, secondly, bet on it. As soon as you get the confession, kill her with a knife, so as not to leave trouble behind.”

Chang Liu never liked Changyi, but He Di’s understatement of murdering makes her shiver and hesitates, she says: “This woman really deserves to die, but if i killed her before Qing Li knowing the facts, wouldn’t it be too bad if Qing Li woke up and thought i was too jealous and killed her while he was unconscious?”

“That’s why I said you need a statement of confession, if Qing Li blamed you, you could just throw the confession to Qing Li and see what he’d say.”

Killing Changyi is a very good choice. Chang Liu hesitates for a while, but still resists the temptation, she shakes her head and says, “No way. If she confessed and pleaded guilty, Qing Li would naturally kill her. But I am pregnant and I am the first wife, to rashly execute my husband’s beloved concubine without reporting my husband, is a great violation of the royal family rules.”

He Di snorts angrily.

Chang Liu says to Ziyan: “It’s not that Chang Liu is soft-hearted and timid and she doesn’t dare to do it. But I always have to think about the child in my womb, if the mother does this kind of thing, this child will surely be criticized  if he ascends the throne in the future.”

Ziyan doesn’t expect that she has been thinking about such thing for so long, now he realizes that the problem of people in the royal family is hundreds of times more complicated than that of ordinary people.

But there is nothing wrong with thinking about the children.

Ziyan says: “I dare not force the princess to do so, after solving the problem of Qing Li and Changyi, the last problem that must be solved is the killer-masters of all sides that Qing Li has secretly recruited.”

Chang Liu shocks: “That’s right! Fortunately, the special envoy reminds me, otherwise I would have missed this point under this anxiousness. But they are all masters, how can I, a woman, deal with them?” She shows a look of concern. Ziyan turns to see He Di.

He Di doesn’t care about this matter at all, now all he’s thinking about is how many days he will be able to get to the beach and how many days he will be at the sea after taking Ziyan set off the journey, and so he estimates that when the 30-days promise are up, he maybe still on the trip and hasn’t yet arrived in Dan Lin. However, for the first time the two are going to be lingering, being on the sea, under the sky and the moon is not bad too.

His heart is burning with the thoughts, and suddenly he finds that Ziyan is looking at him, as if he meant something, he looks back at Ziyan in doubt, then suddenly understands, he points at the tip of his nose and asks uncertainly: “Me?”

Ziyan nods, and He Di is even more angry, “What does this have to do with this prince? Since Qing Li is the one who recruited, of course his imperial concubine should deal with it. This prince has many brave men, but also it doesn’t mean to help others to solve the problems.”

Since the power of Princess Chang Liu’s mother’s family has disappeared, what else can she hope for now? He Di refuses mercilessly but pretend to look at Ziyan with tears in his eyes.

Ziyan stares at He Di angrily, but also knows that He Di is definitely not the one who’s afraid of being stared at by others. This snob doesn’t have the slightest royal attitude, and only has profits in his eyes, he won’t do anything that don’t give him advantage.

Ziyan sighs and says softly: “Princess, please excuse me for a moment. Let me talk to Prince He Di.”

Kong Liu immediately invites Princess Chang Liu and Shi Min to the side room. After everyone is leaving, Ziyan reluctantly asks He Di, “How will you be willing to help this little favor?”

He Di knows that the opportunity to make an indescribable price of seller’s first offer has arrived. Ziyan takes the initiative to send himself to the door, he’s so happy, but he snorts coldly on the surface, “What little favor? The large number of masters that Qing Li have recruited is not easy to deal with, my men are also human, if i lose my own people for the sake of others, how can this prince explain to his subordinates?”

Ziyan is secretly annoyed.

Qing Li’s so-called secret masters are just a group of martial artists who come for money, all the masters in the world, even those who have a little brain know that Duke Ming’s assassin business must not be interfered. Most of the people he recruited are people who greedy for life and afraid of death, only fooling people to be able to slip through, there might not be many of them that can be put to good use. When Princess Chang Liu confided the information, He Di secretly sent someone to investigate, the foundation of this group of people had been clearly understood, and it was not difficult to deal with them even unprepared.

Of course He Di has a bottom line about this, but now he deliberately exaggerates his opponent, just to threaten Ziyan.

(贪生怕死 greedy for life, afraid of death (idiom): craven and cowardly)
